A sharp-eyed DFA member spotted the following quote from Larry Vanderheof in The California Aggie of Wednesday April 2.
With regard to our new President, Mark Yudof, Vanderhoef observed: “He comes from a system office at the University of Texas that has similarities and dissimilarities with the University of California, both of which will inform his work here.”
From March 9, in announcing the closure of a search for the Provost position, Vanderhoef noted: “Someone from outside the University of California, even from outside the distinct culture of public universities, can learn the position, but not quickly – and clearly not fast enough for our immediate needs, given our serious budget challenges.”
A sense of irony appears to be in evidence.
